• Routines

I always recommend new bloggers develop a new habit of writing in their blog every day, at least for the first three months. It is the only way to gain the traction it takes to gain the ranking on your blog.

It is hard to know what to write about at first. When I first started writing in my blogs I had to really struggle to find enough ideas to write consistently. Then after about three or four weeks the ideas began to flow.

Everywhere I looked there were new ideas. There were conversations with friends and something I had heard on the radio. There were television programs and things I would see as I was driving throughout the Bay Area.

Then I decided I needed to start writing the ideas down in a list. I had so many I would forget what they were. Everywhere I looked I saw something else that I wanted to write about.

Then I decided to start writing about my life experiences. It was amazing how many of my stories added interesting items to be written. Everything from learning to fly, auto cross racing, down hill ski racing, travelling throughout Europe and so many more great experiences that were fun to re-live.

Look towards your family and friends for additional stories. You’ll find they will never disappoint you.

  • Blogging Habits

I have many of my bloggers ask me how they can get their blogs ranked highly and how to get new traffic consistently. It is a major problem for bloggers and one that I worked a long time to develop a routine that will guarantee a blog be ranked under 1 million within 4 to 6 weeks with a basic routine anyone can manage within an hour a week.

I typically recommend bloggers write a blog every day for the first three months. The search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo love to see large amounts of content on a blog and will reward them with higher rankings when content is added daily, at least for the first three months.

Adding a video to your blog also adds credibility and great content for your readers. Even if you don’t have your own videos, I suggest creating a Power Point Presentation and then recording you reading your blog to make a video. You can use Camtasia or any of the many screen capture software programs.

Pictures are also a great way to increase interest among your readers. People relate to you more from pictures because they build a sense of familiarity. You can always find a way of using your pictures to add a new blog post.

So remember, write a a blog post every day (you can even post date the post), one video and at least one picture ever week.

In no time you’ll have your blog ranked in the top 1/10th of all websites in the world:

1.2 billion websites in the world

    120 million = 10%

    12 million = 1%

    1.2 million = .1%

Your site ranking under 1 million = 1/10th% of all websites or only 1 million ranking higher than yours.

That’s an amazing achievement for someone not paying for SEO and other marketing programs.
